Can someone give me any good advice on working towards my psychology degree?

-

I am a recovering alcoholic, and drug addict. I will be going to school (Start at a community college for my easy, transferable classes. Then go to a Hospital College for a begining start in Mental Behaviors. Ending up at LSU for my Masters.) for Psychology, I believe i can help younger people stray away from the lifstyle of the streets. If you have any experience, do you think this is a good way to go or what? Please feel free to contact me with help.

If you are wanting to eventually work as a drug and alcohol counselor this is a fine way to go. To practice any counseling or psychotherapy you need minimally a masters degree in psychology, counseling, or social work. With a masters in psychology or counseling you can be licensed as an LPC (licensed professional counselor) this license may be called something else depending on the state in which you live. As a social worker with a masters degree you can get licensed as such LCSM, MSW just depending on the state and your degree. There are additional certification programs you can earn like an LCDC (in texas..Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor). I would encourage you to examine each of the degrees and see if it fits with your views and also your goals in your career.

Getting a masters degree is difficult and you will need lots of family support in the process. Good luck and be sure to research any decision you may make about schooling.

If you want to get your doctorate I would suggest getting a doctorate in psychology. This way you can practice in more

” Love In The First Degree ”

♥◄╣█╠►♥ ♥◄╣█╠►♥ ♥◄╣█╠►♥ ♥◄╣█╠►♥

I once thought of love as a prison a place I didnt want to be.
So long ago I made a decision to be footloose and fancy free.
But you cam I was so tempted to gamble on love just one time.
I never thought I would get caught.
It seemed like the perfect crime.

Chorus:
Baby, you left me defenseless.
Ive only got one plea.
Lock me away inside of your love and throw away the key.
Im guilty of love in the first degree.

I thought it would be so simple, like a thousand times before.
Id take what I wanted and just walk away, but I never made it to the door.
Now babe, I am not begging for mercy.
Go ahead and throw the book at me.
If lovin yous a crime, I know that I am as guilty as a man can be.

Chorus

Oh yeah. oh yeah.

Chorus

Oh yeah. love in the first degree.
Love in the first degree.
Love in the first degree.

Is there any sensible reason Obama wants to pass the "Dream Act"?

-

It will reward millions of illegal Mexicans (criminals) for breaking our immigration laws by allowing them to be U.S. citizens and eligable for all benefits including free tuition for their children for two years. This is absolutely discusting. My son has to work three part time jobs to make ends meet and finish his degree while these idiots are given college free. Besides that, it opens the door for all of the possily new citizen’s relatives to immigrate here. Black people better be really concerned as these individuals will take black jobs and jump ahead in give away lines.

I certainly do not dislike Mexicans, but I am appauled that our idiotic government is even considering such a ridiculous notion for any group of illegals regardless of their homeland.

He is buying their votes pure and simple. Vote all the progressives out!

Why did illegal who horribly abused his 18-month-old son demanded to be set free & court let him walk away ?

-

Why did illegal who caused third-degree burns over 40 percent of babies body demand to be set free & he was, are illegals now controlling the court rooms with their demands ?Second is the ease with which far too many illegal immigrants avoid answering for even the most violent crimes committed by them.

When examined by medical personnel, 18-month-old Lester Martinez exhibited third-degree burns over 40 percent of his body, and what appeared to be choke marks on his neck and cigarette burns on his shoulder.

After doctors found the explanation given by his father to be inconsistent with these catastrophic injuries, they notified police.

According to officers from the 120th Precinct, after his arrest on May 31, 2005, Lopez tried to deceive them as to his identity.

When his true name was finally ascertained, Lopez was arraigned in Criminal Court in Stapleton on June 2 on charges that included first-degree assault, a Class B felony.

Veteran Criminal Court Judge Alan Meyer fixed bail in the amount of $500,000. Thus detained, Lopez indicated that he wanted to testify before the grand jury.

Since the grand jury was already hearing evidence in the case, the district attorney’s office immediately transported him to St. George so that he could testify as requested.

Bear in mind that Lopez, an employee for six years at a Mariners Harbor supermarket, had spoken English during extensive interviews with police. Furthermore, he signed a comprehensive statement written in English

Nevertheless, when he and his attorney arrived in St. George, they demanded a Spanish interpreter. It appears to have been a move calculated to delay the proceeding, a position that Donovan understandably maintains to this day.

However, the applicable statute contains an exception for circumstances where the district attorney demonstrates “good cause why such order of release should not be issued.”

I’ve reviewed the official stenographic transcript of that June 6 proceeding. The presiding judge was now Ferne Goldstein, a lightweight Civil Court judge who had been assigned to the Criminal Court.

Citing Lopez’s demonstrated facility with the English language and the confusion precipitated by his unforeseeable demand for an interpreter, Assistant District Attorney Santosh Madahar clearly presented good cause for denying his bid for immediate release.

Goldstein initially agreed, even stating that Madahar need not argue any further.

Then, however, in an inexplicable about-face, Goldstein declared, “in any event, he does have to be released.”

Thus, to the consternation of outraged prosecutors, Lopez, the illegal immigrant facing a potential 25-year jail term, walked out of the courtroom on his own recognizance. Although insisting that he would appear before the grand jury the following day, he hasn’t been seen since.

Donovan now faces the daunting task of having to deal with the consequences of Goldstein’s outrageous refusal to detain Lopez for just one more day.

What Lopez did here is similar to what countless other illegal immigrants have been able to engineer to avoid being brought to trial for violent crimes committed on American soil.

While there is a plethora of documentation readily available, consider this from the FBI: As of early 2009, 57 percent of its most-wanted murderers were born outside the United States, and the overwhelming majority of those were Mexican.

On April 23, 2005, Heather MacDonald, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, testifying before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security, and Claims, decried the negative consequences to law enforcement from sanctuary policies such as those adopted by New York City.

She also noted that 95 percent of all fugitive warrants for murder in Los Angeles in the first half of 2004, were issued for illegal immigrants.

The Federation for American Immigration Reform, a nonpartisan, public interest organization, estimates that, as of 2010, illegal immigration cost American taxpayers $113 billion a year, of which limited aspects of law enforcement accounted for almost $8 billion.

Lopez is, of course, entitled to the presumption of innocence. Still, by his fleeing the jurisdiction, Staten Island’s Number One fugitive is only the tiniest tip of the iceberg.

But it’s a mighty mass – one the ship of state has already struck; one that’s absolutely bringing America down.

This, while spineless politicians watch and illegal immigrants and their organized advocates become more brazen by the day.

http://www.silive.com/opinion/danielleddy/index.ssf/2011/02/how_one_illegal_immigrant_game.html

It happens every day !!
Here in Denver when you go to court, the english speakers have to wait for the spanish speaking to go first. You can watch the judge and DA give plea bargains to all the illegals, the most popular is "agricultural trespass" in lieu of what ever crime they were arrested for.
It is a joke to go to the court room and watch how there are 2 tiers of justice, one for the American Citizen and one for the illegal. It always favors the illegal.

Report and Deport !!
Amnesty + civil war !!

No college degree…no happiness?

-

I’m 22 years old. Throughout my entire life I’ve repeatedly failed at advanced math (calculus to be specific) and this failure has recently gotten me expelled from a university. My choices are basically thus…I could either try again elsewhere, or I could just not get a degree.

At this point I’m unsure I have it in me to learn Calculus. Should I keep trying over and over, or should I just give up on college?

Note that my family is relatively wealthy so I could go to college until I’m 90 if I wanted. I just don’t want to throw my parents’ money away trying to achieve an impossible goal.

My main concern (and by main I mean only) about not going to college is that I’d have to work a 9 to 5 grind. I am NOT able to wake up before 10 AM on a regular basis and I am NOT able to work several consecutive hours day after day.

Without a college degree would it be at all possible to have a decent living that doesn’t involve being a drone? A testimony from somebody who made it degree-free would be helpful. My dad himself has no degree, but he’s a minor celebrity so that’s a special case.

Dont be too critical on yourself, some people have a flair for maths and some dont,if you really want to go for college my suggestion is go and major in something you like, something you enjoy rather than trying to constantly learn something which obviously is not your cup of tea

You can make it big in life without college without your own effort but when you consider world over colleges are churning out graduates like never before its hard not to be swept aside

Think over your courses and try to major in something you love
